Heavy Duty Truck and Trailer Conspicuity Tape
Reflexite conspicuity tape meets FMVSS 108 for Heavy Duty Truck and Trailer conspicuity markings.
Reflexite DOT-C2 compliant conspicuity tapes serve the heavy duty truck and trailer market to ensure that conspicuity standards are met and to improve the safety of fleet operators and fellow drivers.Federal law requires all new trailers over 80" wide and over 10,000 lb. gross vehicle weight manufactured after December 1, 1993 to be fitted with conspicuity treatments. NHTSA studies have shown that improving visibility can dramatically reduce rear-end and under-ride collisions. Failure to comply significantly reduces vehicle safety and can result in fines and other owner losses.
Alternating Red/White conspicuity tape is required on the side and rear of each trailer. 12" White strips are required in the upper corners, 1.5" wide strips of Red/White tape on the horizontal bar of the rear I.C.C bumper, and 50% of the length of the trailer shall be treated with 2" wide or (2) 1" wide strips applied no further than 1" apart.
