Emergency Vehicle Conspicuity Tape
Reflexite conspicuity material serves the Fire, Police, and Ambulance industries for vehicle graphics applications. These vehicles help keep people safe day and night, and Reflexite's strong and distinctive conspicuity markings improve their safety and ensure compliance with federal standards. Federal law requires most emergency vehicles to be fitted with conspicuity markings. Failure to comply significantly reduces vehicle safety and can result in fines or other owner losses.
According to NFPA 1901, Automotive Fire Apparatus Standard, at least 50% of the rear vertical surfaces of the apparatus shall be equipped with a minimum of 6" alternating yellow and red chevron retroreflective striping sloping downward and away from the centerline of the vehicle at an angle of 45 degrees. The chevron pattern is an inverted "V" in compliance with the MUTCD (Manual On Uniform Traffic Control Devices). This enhances the visibility of emergency response vehicles that work in or near moving traffic and commands attention of the motoring public more than horizontal stripes.
